A new gaming spot comes to Green Bay – WBAY

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A new business in Ashwaubenon is looking to serve the gaming community.

Press Start Rec Room is a new arcade style bar that the owners say fills a niche in an ever-growing industry.

They offer a wide variety of gaming options from old-school Nintendo to arcade games to board games. Owner Brandon Parker says that if that isn’t enough you can also bring your own games, “If you have a game at home or anything like that you don’t have room or you want to get out of the house and play, you are more than welcome to come and sit at our tables and do so.”

Parker moved here from Memphis Tennessee after noticing this area has just as many, if not more, retro videogame stores. “Started seeing the market was here, coming from Memphis, population 1.5 million strong, to here is 300,00 strong,” Parker says, “we have more stores, but as far as individual businesses, it was the same so there is something here.”

Of course they have more to offer than just games with beer, wine, and a variety of “gamer finger food” available.

For a flat rate of $20 per hour during the week and $35 per hour on the weekends you can play any gaming system you want on a 75 inch Samsung 4K TV. “During the week, if you have 10 friends you want to shove into the living room, that’s two dollars and hour to play retro video games,” says Parker.

The best part, according to Parker, is bringing generations of gamers together, “kind of cool seeing parents and kids, oh you have this so and so, I used to play this as a kid, so now they are teaching their kid about the game, so passing it down which is really cool.”

Parker is even open to hearing suggestions, hoping to add even more gaming experiences in the future. “At this point, noting is off the table, we have the room for it, we will just see how it goes,” says Parker.

Press Start Rec Room is open Wednesday through Sunday from four to eleven pm. They will then have their grand opening in the next few weeks.
