College football just wrapped its 150th season with the LSU Tigers finishing 15-0, thanks to the most fearsome offensive attack we’ve ever seen. They’ll long be remembered as one of the greatest champions in modern history.

But what about Clemson? The Tigers finished 14-1 and saw a 29-game winning streak snapped in New Orleans. That Clemson team was undoubtedly great as well. Thing is, that Clemson Tigers team will likely be lost to history without a title. That’s what 247Sports is looking at today: historically good teams that failed to win a national championship for one reason or another. These are the best non-champion college football teams in history.

Note: The AP Poll, which helped crowned national champions, did not annually include bowl results in its national championship voting until 1968. The Coach’s Poll did not adopt that policy until 1974.
