“He was bashing on the window with the bricks and then he was able to kick it open,” Christian Hilley, one of the owners.

The owners said the crooks were inside the store for about 15 minutes and in that time were able to make off with about $1,000 worth of cash and wine.

“It’s enough to hurt, but it’s not enough to file a claim,” Christian said.

They have put up pictures of the suspects on the shop’s doors as a warning, to let the crooks know they know who they are.

“So many people on social media shared our stuff, across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, kind of everywhere,” said Courtney Hilley, one of the owners of the shop. “I think people are just sick of it and so I hope that works in our favor.”

According to data from the F.B.I. burglaries appear to be on the rise here in Mobile. Between 2015 and 2017, they have gone up nearly 37%.

“Desperate people have always been around, crime has always been around,” Christian said.

For Christian and Courtney, this break-in while annoying will not break them and their drive to serve their customers.

“Every week is different as a business owner and there is always something surprising that pops up, but this is one of the more challenging things we’ve had,” Christian said.

“We’re both 26, we weren’t really born into this,” Courtney said. “We’ve worked really hard for this and so I do think that has made it hurt a little bit more.”

A Mobile Police detective was at the store on Monday investigating.

The owners said they have gotten a lot of support from the community as news of the break-in spread, they also said police told them they have some suspects in mind.
