“Technologies like WiFi 6 are going to play an important role as VoWiFi (voice-over-WiFi) proliferates,” said Anand Bhaskar, MD, service provider sales, Cisco India & SAARC.
He added that while WiFi 6 will solve issues related to high-density, 5G will take up a bigger role from an overall coverage point of view.
The executive further shared that Cisco currently has over 100 engagements going on globally for 5G.
However, in India, fiberization is the need of the hour to tap the 5G opportunity timely, a lot of fiberization needs to be undertaken, Bhaskar said
“Getting 50%-60% fiberization done in India in the next five years is also going to have a huge impact on jobs,” he added.
Cisco is also seeing big opportunity in the security domain as the company’s director of security business J Vishal Raman shared that the company has been making its acquisitions strategically to expand the security business.
“Through our acquisitions, our focus areas have been network, cloud and devices which are three important elements of the security business,” Raman added.
