With cybersecurity becoming ever more difficult to monitor and manage, and product and data overload triggering cyber fatigue among cybersecurity professionals, organizations must adopt more autonomous approaches, says Richard Walters of Censornet.

“Automation – and going beyond automation into autonomous security – is designed to really take away a huge amount of the load off of the human analysts and those in the security team and just allow organizations to one, cope and two, better protect themselves, 24×7,” he says.

In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference, Walters discusses:

  • The automation imperative;
  • Autonomous security risks and adoption challenges;
  • The challenge posed by cyber fatigue;
  • Why security solutions have not yet solved the cybersecurity skills shortage.

Walters, CTO at Censornet, is responsible for the company’s integrated set of cloud-based security services. He was previously senior vice president of security products at cloud services provider Intermedia and co-founder and CTO at SaaSID Limited, a U.K.-based IDaaS and CASB vendor, which was acquired by Intermedia in 2013. Prior to that. he was CTO of Integralis. He’s also worked at such organizations as Digital, Dell and Panasonic.
