Overs 18: Sri Lanka 75/3
Ben Stokes conceded just one single in the over. Runs are not coming easily for the Lankans, and they have managed to score just 13 in the last five overs since the wicket of Fernando in the 13th.
Overs 17: Sri Lanka 74/3
Another tidy over from Mark Wood, conceded just two singles in it.
Overs 16: Sri Lanka 72/3. Time for first drinks break

End of Over 13: Gone! Fernando (49 off 39) falls one short of his half-century. Played one shot too many as he tried to upper-cut Wood. A brilliant knock comes to an end.
Sri Lanka 62/3
Sri Lanka’s fifty comes up in 10.4 overs, followed a
fifty stand between Fernando and Mendis, who has been more of a spectator in this unbeaten stand.
End of Over 10: Fernando’s (41*) counter, including
five fours and
two sixes in his 31-ball stay so far, has got England rattled a bit now. That pulled
SIX off Archer was just incredible, sending the ball out of the park.
End of Over 7: Looking at the shots played by Fernando (25* off 21) in the last two overs, openers Perera and Karunaratne must be gutted sitting in Sri Lanka’s balcony. This looks a good pitch to play your shots. 31/2
End of Over 6: This time Archer comes in for some treatment at the hands of Avishka Fernando, who hits the England pacer first for a pulled
SIX and then a
FOUR through the covers next ball.
End of Over 4: A maiden from Archer, and he’s getting appreciable movement, both in-swing and out-swing. 4/2
End of Over 3:
Woakes gets among the wickets as well! Perera (2) flashed at a wide one and is caught by Moeen Ali at deep third-man. 4/2
End of Over 2:
Archer strikes! Karunaratne nicks one straight to the ‘keeper and has to walk back for just one. He survived a run-out as well in the same over. 3/1
Jofra Archer runs in with the second new ball from the opposite end.
End of Over 1: A single each for the Lankan openers get them going. 2/0
Karunaratne and Perera opening for Sri Lanka. Woakes with the new ball for England.

Dimuth Karunaratne: We’ll bat first, looks a batting surface and want to put runs on the board. Hoping to put some scoreboard pressure. We have two changes. We have had time to regroup and discuss. Need to do something special against England.
Eoin Morgan: We would have batted as well, looks a really good wicket. Best time to bat on. We’re playing the same team. The wicket here has assisted turn a bit in recent games, so we have both Adil and Moeen. (On managing fast bowlers’ workload) First priority is to get to the semifinals and when/if we do that, we’ll decide whom to rest. (On Moeen’s 100th ODI) We had a small presentation upstairs. Steven Gerrard sent him (Moeen) a message, so he’s buzzing today which is great. He’s been a huge part of English cricket for a while now and thoroughly deserves 100 caps.
TOSS NEWS: Sri Lanka win the toss and decide to bat first against unchanged England.
2:22 pm That’s how the pitch looks like as we near toss time.

The 2019 World Cup journey of the two teams so far is in stark contrast. While England are almost storming towards sealing a spot in the semis, the beleaguered Sri Lankan team is far from that.
