GREENVILLE — Members of Greenville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday evening to purchase a mobile stair climbing hand truck for the basement of Greenville City Hall.
The city council entertained two bids, one from Mobile Stairlift of Brooklyn, New York, at $2,295 and the second from Material Handling Solutions of Mission, Texas, at $5,700, voting unanimously on the cheaper bid from Mobile Stairlift.
According to Greenville City Manager George Bosanic, the basement of city hall is utilized for storage of records and equipment and said oftentimes those items are “quite heavy.”
Due to the inconvenience of staff sometimes having to “double up” to move equipment, and to hopefully avoid potential injury, the recommendation was made to purchase the hand truck.
The funds will come from the city’s Capital Improvement Plan to both purchase and install the unit.
