John Cena has always said he will work with WWE for as long as they want him. Turns out that promise goes beyond him wrestling in the ring.
Like it or not, John Cena is one of the biggest stars in WWE’s history. No one has had a run like Cena in WWE. 16 World Title reigns and a career that has spanned almost two decades. Even though the in-ring part of Cena’s career appears to be winding down, that doesn’t mean his time with WWE is anywhere near over.
Cena’s appearances for WWE are becoming more and more sporadic as his movie career grows. The Franchise Player has only competed in two matches so far in 2019, neither of which took place at WrestleMania. Cena did appear on The Grandest Stage Of Them All, but it was simply to reprise his Dr. of Thuganomics character.

Despite appearing to further detach himself from the world of wrestling, Cena recently reiterated that he will never fully leave WWE behind. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, the future Hall Of Famer discussed what his WWE future might look like. “I’m not sure what my role is, but I know WWE is my family and, as long as they’ll have me, I’ll never leave,” he exclaimed.
In fact, Cena admitted that if asked, he would be open to coaching at WWE’s Performance Center. “I’ll go coach in Orlando. It would be so shameful for that experience and performance wisdom to go to no one.” That might sound a little big-headed, but we 100% agree with him. If you wrestle at the top for the biggest company in the industry for almost 20 years, then you deserve to be a little big-headed.
Cena has seen and done it all in WWE. His knowledge and experience is invaluable and we imagine everyone in NXT right now would be extremely willing to work with him, even if it was just on a guest trainer type basis. For the time being, however, we imagine the wrestler turned movie star is pretty busy with other projects. He is about to venture into the Fast And Furious universe after all.
