New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, hit out at Congress party saying that under the party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), there was no deal ‘without a commission’. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed a press conference in New Delhi and said that despite the fact that the Air Force, as well as two constitutional bodies, have given a clean chit to the government over the procurement and the pricing of the Rafale deal, ‘Rahul Gandhi is distributing fake facts based upon lies and misrepresentation’.
“In the most shameless manner, Rahul Gandhi is distributing fake facts based upon lies and misrepresentation… Serving IAF officers, including Air Force Chief, has said that Rafale is important for the country. Rahul Gandhi never speaks seriously in Parliament. He goes out and then goes out and lies… Two constitutional bodies have said that the process and pricing of Rafale are flawless,” Prasad said.
Citing the SC observation, that the IAF officers clarified that India has no comparable aircraft when our adversaries have acquired fifth-generation aircraft, Prasad said that the Congress party did not close any defence deal without ‘monetary commission’.
“CAG says- UPA came to power in 2004. Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued in 2007. The bid was opened in November 2011 and Dassault was chosen as L-1… 15 years, you did not work,” he said, adding, “UPA and Congress do not do any deal without commission. There is no deal for procurement of weapons in the UPA without a deal- without monetary commission.” Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi claimed that the CAG report was ‘not worth the pages’.
