According to the CAG report, the inter-governmental contract for Rafale was 2.86 per cent lower than the earlier aligned price.
In a series of tweets, Jaitley lashed out at Gandhi and the opposition parties who are joining hands against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

He was referring to the Supreme Court judgment which did not find anything wrong with the Rafale deal.
On the opposition parties, Jaitley said, “The lies of ‘Mahajhootbandhan’ stand exposed by the CAG Report.”
The minister said the CAG report had once again proved that truth prevails ultimately. “Satyameva Jayate – the truth shall prevail. The CAG report on Rafale reaffirms the dictum.”

Comparing the price, timeframe and other terms between 2007 and 2016 – when the Congress-led UPA and Modi governments respectively had negotiated the deal – Jaitley said NDA government’s agreement was at a lower price, faster delivery, better maintenance and lower escalation.
The minister alluded to the allegations being made by Gandhi and others and asked, “How does democracy punish those who consistently lied to the nation?”
