Steps for home buyers next week – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The government will unveil a fresh set of measures by the middle of next week, aimed at resolving the problems faced by home buyers and another set of steps to take care of pending issues hurting economic growth, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

“I should also tell you that on home buyers, we have had consultations, particularly for home buyers who have problems in the NCR and therefore will have a bearing in Mumbai where a lot of home buyers have paid their advances and sitting without knowing what to do and the promoters are sitting with no money to further their projects,” she said.

Thousands of home buyers across the country, particularly in the Delh-NCR region, are faced with uncertainty as their dream homes have been delayed and builders have defaulted in several cases.

“We have had discussions, we are also very close to coming up with some solutions. I have not introduced that today in this presentation but sooner I will be able to come separately to talk to you all about home buyers and the way in which the government is responding to solving their problems.”

Sitharaman said more measures are expected over the next two weeks. “This is only a start. I do not want worries to remain, we are continuously with people, we are taking their inputs and responding to them and therefore this is only a start today, we have come with a set of our responses.”

“Next week again, I do not want to give a date now, but next week again we shall be coming with one more set of announcements, one more set of announcements by the middle of next week. Soon after that I will come with another set of announcements, So you can expect us to come and talk to you twice more in the near future, which will take care of the other issues, which are pending.”
