Summer NAMM 2019: Casio revives Casiotone, adds iPad learning features – MusicTech

Casio has brought back the hugely popular Casiotone series of keyboards. Introduced in 1980 the Casiotone series was an affordable way into playing the keyboard. Now, at Summer NAMM 2019, the keyboard maker has reimagined the series with features specifically for learning.

There are three models in the new range of portable keyboards – the CT-S200 (available in red, black and white), the CT-S300 which features velocity-sensitive keys and the LK-S250 with light-up keys.

They are all compatible with the Chordana Play app, while the LK-S250 also boasts Casio’s Step-Up lesson system, which can turn any MIDI file into a Guitar Hero-style lesson with light-up keys that show you where to put your fingers.

All three keyboards have 61 keys, 400 built-in sounds, integral speakers, MIDI I/O, a rechargeable battery and a carrying handle for portability. And, they are all compatible with Chordana Play, too.

The Casiotone CT-S200 ($109), CT-S300 ($139), and LK-S250 ($159) will be available later this year. More information at casiomusicgear.com. Read all the Summer NAMM news here.
