A 42-year-old man from Troy was arraigned Saturday and charged in the death of his mother, a press release from the Troy Police Department said.

The man, who police identified as Uriah Lee Scott, was denied bond and is being held at the Oakland County Jail.

A news release said Troy officers were called to a mobile home on the 2100 block of Shelley on Wednesday by a relative for a welfare check on the victim, who police identified as 61-year-old Cynthia Scott.

She had reportedly not been seen or heard from since March 18, police said.

As officers investigated, they found her dead in a bedroom, concealed underneath some items and partially in a closet. Police said that in an autopsy conducted by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday determined that her cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The release said the woman’s son, Uriah Scott, had recently moved in with her. Police found and arrested him on Wednesday at a friend’s home in Oak Park, where had reportedly been staying since March 18.

Police said another resident of the home on Shelley was taken into custody on Wednesday, but has been released without charges at this time.
