The Volunteer Action Center is hosting this semester’s first Find Your Impact panel today at 4 p.m. in the Pat Walker Health Center on Campus.

Representatives from local organizations share open volunteer opportunities — from one-off projects to long-term placements — and discuss their mission and work within the community. Students get a better understanding of volunteer projects are available what work they’ll be expected to do. The panel also helps students understand how working with outside agencies can develop skills and foster meaningful connections with non-profits in the community.

This year, each info session will focus on a few of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals. September’s goals are “Quality Education” and “Gender Equality.”

They will have speakers from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas, Beautiful Lives and our own program Dream B.I.G. (Believing in Girls). Each of these programs focus on gender equity, mentor-ship and youth development. All FYI sessions count toward one volunteer hour for students who attend and sign up on GivePulse.
