What to Watch: College Football Week Four – Streaking The Lawn

At least on paper, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of ACC action to get excited about in Week Four, but, as we all know, there’s never truly a dull week in college football. With that said, let’s see what this Saturday – the last one before conference play really gets into full swing – has to offer.

Louisville Cardinals at Florida State Seminoles

Sure, Florida State lost on the road to Virginia last Saturday, but at least the Seminoles proved to be a stiffer test than many of the pundits suggested they would be. Perhaps that game will help turn FSU’s season away from the dumpster fire that it currently is and closer towards another bowl appearance. First, though, they’ll need to get by a Louisville team, whom UVA plays on October 26 at Cardinal Stadium, which has surpassed expectations through three weeks.

Old Dominion Monarchs at #21 Virginia Cavaliers

Not only did Old Dominion beat Virginia Tech last season, they gave them a decent scare on the road in Blacksburg in 2019, trailing by just seven points with a little over 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Still, UVA enters Saturday’s contest as roughly 30 point favorites, and should take care of business before traveling to Notre Dame next weekend.

#7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at #3 Georgia Bulldogs

On the topic of Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish get third-ranked Georgia in Athens for Week Four. No doubt, quarterback Ian Book will need to play at a high level for the Irish to have a chance against a team that expects to compete for SEC and College Football Playoff titles yet again. Wahoo fans should be sure to keep an eye on this one.

Appalachian St. Mountaineers at North Carolina Tar Heels

This is a sneaky tough test for North Carolina, who fell to Wake Forest on the road last Friday, 24-18. In Appalachian State, the Tar Heels will get a team that that has dominated the Sun Belt Conference over the past three seasons – they’ve captured at least a share of the league title each year – and who fell to then-10th ranked Penn State in 2018 on the road in overtime, 45-38.
