With 32.5 per cent market share in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, Taiwanese technology giant Asus has emerged as the top gaming laptop brand in the country, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

“Ranking as the No.1 gaming laptop brand again reinforces the love and consistent support we have got from our customers, partners and fans across India. The pandemic has triggered a huge transformation in customer choice and preferences. We have been able to achieve more than double the sales of gaming laptops in the post lockdown phase in comparsion to the pre lockdown phase which bears testimony to the heightened demand for gaming and entertainment products. We are confident to cater to the demand and continue to innovate and excite our customers with feature-rich products,” Arnold Su, Business Head, Consumer and Gaming PCs, System Business Group, Asus India, said in a statement.

The work from home (WFH) culture has also contributed significantly for professionals to spend some quality time gaming on ROG laptops to bust their stress levels, according to the company. ROG Showdown initiated by Asus also urged gamers and working professionals to participate and utilise their time optimally amid the current situation.

According to the company, the thin and light segment has been performing well in the post-lockdown phase; the Zephyrus series accompanied by the recently launched TUF A15 have done very well. With the WFH demand for professionals, the TUF series is an absolute fit with design variants, portability and better battery life.

Meanwhile, Asus has been aggressive on the retail expansion front with seven new ROG stores in cities including Hyderabad, Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore and Coimbatore. The brand aims to open 20 new ROG stores by the end of the year.
