A 50-year-old woman died early Sunday morning after her mobile home burned down.
The Indian River Fire Company responded around 3 a.m. to Malone’s Bayside Marina in Millsboro and found a mobile home in the unit block of Harbor Road fully engulfed in fire, according to Michael Chionchio, the assistant state fire marshal.
Firefighters rescued a 50-year-old woman from the fire and rushed her to Beebe Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Chionchio said. Her name has not yet been made public.
Two others were able to escape the home, Chionchio said. They were treated and released for smoke inhalation at Beebe Medical Center, he said.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office said the fire caused about $55,000 worth of damage to the mobile home. The siding on three nearby mobile homes was melted, Chionchio said, but those residences remain habitable.
